Guitar Center's website is shitty (ask me how I know). According to your link, Ibanez makes their gift cards now.
EDIT: Never mind. It's working now. Also, that's better than a 2015 Gibson.

Gibsons are overrated
I'd love to have a Gibson

Yeah, I was always a fan of Raul too.

I think Prince could pull this off or a japanese rock group. Anyone else, meh. I'm more of a fan of the hollow bodies and the more classic looking styles/color schemes.

I've had a supernova sunburst Ibanez SRX700 and a laser blue metallic Jackson PDR. I need this purple in my life :)

I'm actually going to buy a Gibson in the coming weeks, but not a new one.
Seriously, the models for 2015 are turds: Gibson bloated prices, installed an ugly new nut and their shitty G-Force tuning system on every guitar, and slapped an ugly hologram sticker on the back of every headstock. All that, and more, in the name of "innovation."
Yuck.
I want an early '90s LP Studio in Alpine White or Black with gold hardware, thanks. You can keep your innovation, Gibson.

Purty. I'm saving up my pennies for one of these babies:

Back in the early 90s I was gigging with two guitars. One had a single humbucker, and the other was a cheap Strat. I had to constantly switch between the two of them all night, since they were only good at one thing.
Then I saw this line of RGs... I thought it would be perfect. the coils split, and (I think) the neck pickup was a stacked humbucker. The only think wrong with it, is it was too damn expensive.
So I ended up with a used Washburn for $225, and it worked just fine*
*Except for the fact that it was designed for a little man, and looked a little small on me.

I'd like to add a Gibson to my arsenal someday just to say I have one. Everyone has been all "Buy a Fender!" "Gotta get a Strat!" and yanno I've just never been a fan of how they played or felt. I've always loved Ibanez basses and I've had a smattering of electrics from other brands, I don't really understand why I've strayed.
But whatever Gibs I buy will be used for sure. I cannot afford the pricetag on these new things. And apparently I don't want to, either

Noice! As a lefty, I've never understood lefty guitars :\

My old Washburn was nearly identical to that
Also yes. Tiny. Even for me.

I was in the local music shop the other day to grab some strings and took a few minutes to browse the selection of Gibsons. I was shocked at how cheap they felt. The knobs felt like they were toys, no weight to their movement at all.
My 2009 Epi Les Paul feels a million times better.

Check out an Epiphone. I have an '09 Les Paul and I love it. No way in hell I'd ever be able to justify the money for a lefty Gibson.

It's a curse. Hard to find, limited colors, higher price. I think if I would have picked up my first guitar the other way I would have ended up playing right handed. Sucks.

I'm not a big fan of Strats, either. What's really shitty about that, though, is that I had to own a handful of 'em first before I realized it. It's not that I think Strats play bad however. It's that they absolutely do not fit my playing style, regardless of whatever genre of music I'm playing.

I can believe that.
Also, an alternative to an Epiphone Les Paul would be a newer Tokai Love Rock reissue . Same quality, even comes out of the same Chinese plant I believe. But most of them have the same open-book headstock as a Gibson Les Paul (which isn't exactly legal, but these guitars aren't exactly meant for US buyers either).
You know what? This conversation really makes me think Kinja needs a decent guitar blog. Maybe I'll get on that soon.

Yes, count me in, I would be all over that.

Ibanez = Ibeenhad
It's okay though, an acquaintance of mine is a platinum award winning musician, and it's basically all he has. Ibanez guitars, Ibanez everywhere. Work well enough. I have a Silvertone, which I'm aware is nothing special, but it's a special edition, and I got it for super cheap and it was my first electric.
Goddamn it I wish I had time to start playing again....I'm so out of practice it's sad.
![]() 02/13/2015 at 13:54 |

Try one, you may be surprised. If they're good enough for Victor Wooten and Joe Satriani, they're good enough for me
![]() 02/13/2015 at 13:56 |

Yeah, Silvertone is nothing special, I'm not making a crack at Ibanez, just something a friend of mine told me several years ago that you never forget.

Why not just restring it in reverse and flip it over? Legend says that's what Hendrix used to do (and if it's good enough for that guy...)

Isn't quite the same, plus it looks goofy.
